Не ирония. "жила в СВОЕ удовольствие" - у "матушки-командирши" такое СВОЕ представление об удовольствии и смысле жизни - "ПЫШНОСТЬ, ШУМНОСТЬ, ПЕРВАЯ, ГРОМКО, МНОГО" (не зря так изобилует отрывок столькими определениями)
